Bolton-by-Bowland  Cricket Club

Bolton by Bowland Cricket Club enters its 42nd year as an important village organisation catering for all levels of interest and provides a social hub for the community. From humble beginnings when changing rooms and teas were accommodated in the same caravan, the club moved to its current location in 1986 following a kind gesture by Mrs Bosonnet who provided a field within the Bolton Hall Estate. The new clubhouse swiftly followed in 1987 as a result of a variety of fund raising activities, donations and grants.

Maintaining village based sport does not come cheaply and therefore the role of the club management committee is increasingly important. Various fund raising events take place throughout the season, all of which are generously supported by the community. The ground, on a warm summers day is ‘picture perfect’ due in no small part to the efforts of past and present club members who have given so freely of their time and expertise – my thanks go to them all.

Whether a Sunday afternoon friendly using a 40 over format or a Thursday evening ‘mini league’ when 15 overs is the norm, players of various ages and abilities grace the wicket.

A full program of weekend friendlies run from the end of April through to September, whilst the mid-week mini-league kicks off in early May.
